WhatsApp could soon bring a new section to introduce UPI Payments

Posted on

In November last year, WhatsApp started providing payment services for its Indian users, which enables them to easily receive and send money, just like sending text messages. To enable the payment function, WhatsApp uses the UPI method, which is the first real-time payment system in India.

Although the Facebook-owned company has not yet introduced a payment function for each user, but Indian consumers can enable it to send Payment requests.

Until now, Payment requests are the only way to enable the feature for the contact. It is notable that it is completely free and can provide a UPI payment for the recipient of the request.

Just recently, WhatsApp features tracker WABetaInfo reported that in the latest development, WhatsApp is preparing to add a new segment to show UPI payments. At the moment it is not decided whether WhatsApp is working on this new part or not.

Also, the popular messaging app can also announce that it allows everyone in India to send UPI payments by default without any payment request, meaning that UPI payment services will be promoted more widely.

It has also shared some screens of the expected part of the user interface. It is expected that users will usually configure UPI payments, and after adding bank accounts, you can collect payments on WhatsApp.

However, the feature is currently under development and is available only to a limited number of WhatsApp beta users. The latest WhatsApp Android beta update can be identified with the internal version number 2.21.10.11.
