Key Points
- WhatsApp now allows iOS device users to view recently online contacts.
- It provides a general overview of activity like who’s been online and when.
- The contacts who have disabled their last seen and online status won’t be available in this list.
WhatsApp has released a new feature that allows users to see their friends and family members who have been online recently on iOS devices. Hence, no more guessing or waiting for replies. Now you’ll have information on who’s been online and when, making it easier to reach out to them at the right time.
As per the details, the option to show recently online members will be available within the contacts list and it will be mainly beneficial when you’re trying to initiate calls or new chats. This saves users from the annoyance of sending messages to people who are not using the app at that moment.
This feature also values privacy, thus, if someone has chosen to hide their online status, you won’t be able to see their activity. Accordingly, it didn’t offer a complete list of all contacts that are currently online. But we can expect WhatsApp to allow users to see every online contact in the future.

However, the feature is currently available for a limited number of users or beta testers, but it will reach a wider audience of iOS devices in the coming weeks. Simultaneously, we can also anticipate the Meta-based app to bring this outstanding capability to the Android version of WhatsApp as well.
