WhatsApp introduces general group chat feature for community

WhatsApp Android is rolling out some more effective treatment for the community in the form of a general group chat feature. The new tweak is available with the 2.23.19.6 beta version to a limited number of testers via the Google Play Store.

Diving into the details, WhatsApp is working on a new general group chat feature, which will improve communication between community members. There will be a new group formation, allowing participants to communicate with each other.

Every time a newbie joins the community, the app will automatically add them to the common group conversation. One can check the availability of this feature by creating a new community. Note that the feature is only showing up for new communities, while the old one remains stagnant with this change.

Another key point is, the maximum capacity for this group is 1024 users. In addition, the group is open with details and doesn’t have a phone number privacy protection option or hiding participants list capability. Though the company might add these notes with the upcoming updates.
