How to Prevent?
The government has already started taking action over this scam. In the meantime, you can also take a few steps. At the outset, uninstall the fake app from your phone via Settings > Apps > WhatsApp Pink (logo) and delete it. Also, skip tapping on such links that you are not aware of or are from unknown sources.
Do not forward the links or messages to others without proper verification or authentication. Also, never share your personal details or information with anyone.
