The latest reports show that BMW is planning to cooperate with South Korean suppliers in the production of solid-state batteries. The sources said in the report that the personnel of BMW’s Korean branch will meet with a number of equipment and raw material suppliers in South Korea, and then report the results of the meeting to the German headquarters.

According to reports from the source, the personnel of BMW Korea is planning to meet with suppliers of assembly, solid electrolytes, raw materials, and other equipment. Vendors planned to meet include CIS, Hana Technologies, EcoPro BM, etc.

According to sources, BMW is planning to build a test production line for solid-state batteries in Germany, which is likely to be built at BMW’s manufacturing center in Passdorf, where they have invested more than 170 million euros.

In addition to cooperating with South Korean suppliers in the production of solid-state batteries, sources also mentioned that BMW and Samsung SDI, a battery manufacturer under Samsung, may also cooperate. BMW and Samsung have cooperated in batteries for more than 10 years.
