Tesla Model S Plaid breaks 200 mph top speed: Report

When Tesla launched the Model S Plaid, it said that the car could reach a top speed of 200 miles per hour (321km / h), but due to the existence of software locks, the cars that users bought were all failing to reach this speed, Tesla later launched a “track mode” with a maximum speed of 281km/h.

There is such a group of people who have successfully cracked Tesla’s software limitations, plus upgraded larger brake kits and higher-performance tires (Michelin Pilot Super Sport), successfully ran this car out of 216 in one test mph (348 km/h) to rival the Porsche 918 Spyder and Ferrari Enzo.

This is the fastest speed ever achieved by a Tesla Model S Plaid or any Tesla vehicle. Tesla has not previously stated why it does not provide users with the previously promised 200 mph speed, which may be brakes or motors, but Tesla later provided a $20,000 upgrade carbon ceramic kit, which may be to some extent alleviate this problem.

Ingenext, a Quebec, Canada-based company best known for selling Tesla vehicle unlocking modules, has successfully bypassed the Model S Plaid’s software limitations to fully unlock at extreme speeds. In fact, the Ingenext team had tried to get the vehicle to 200 mph elsewhere before, but they really didn’t have enough room to get to that speed safely.

They later discovered that the Trois-Rivières airport had a runway of about 3 kilometers long, which was ideal for such tests. So, this morning, Ingenext CEO Guillaume André personally drove his Model S Plaid to try and break the top speed record at Trois-Villes, Quebec.

Moreover, this is not the first time the Ingenext team has unlocked the Model S Plaid’s limit speed, they have previously achieved 295km / h, 305.7km / h, 304.8km / h and 303.0km / h achievement unlock. After the run, I even took out a fast charger from the trunk of the Chevrolet to replenish energy.

Andre drove the Tesla Model S Plaid for about 2 kilometers to reach the top speed mentioned above, and then began to slow down, and the buffer distance of the slowdown alone was more than 6,000 feet. It turned out that even the higher performance of the car was used.

With the brake kit, he also needs almost thousands of meters to slow down. That said, while the attempt was a success, it also came with an extremely high risk of attempting it. From their YouTube, this 216-mph Tesla Model S Plaid sounds like a jet is taking off right in front of you, but it’s really just a regular production family 4-door sedan.
