Google prioritizes users’ security but a recent Android loophole caused the Wallet app to leak the credit card details of users. As per the details, the bug in the internal framework has allowed access to some essentials via NFC (Near-Field Communication) devices.
The information is coming from the github website which has listed the security issue on the surface. Accordingly, the loophole is marked as CVE-2023-35671 which is constantly affecting Android devices through the Google Wallet and allowing access to credit card details.
Notably, the problem is showing on all of the handsets running on Android 5.0 and newer operating systems. Besides, the issue is related to the ‘Screen Pinning’ tool in Android which enables users to lock an app on screen until a PIN is entered.
When turned on, the Screen Pinning shows the ‘Ask for PIN before unpinning’ option and requires device unlock for NFC. After this process, the loophole restricts payment but reveals the credit card information.
Don’t worry, as Google is already aware of the issue, and has marked it as the ‘High’ level in severity. On the greener side, the company has included a fix in the September 2023 security patch for Android versions 11 through 13.
