Over the next three years, the additional investment in Munich expansion and research and development will cross one billion euros. This expansion is the latest in Apple’s long-standing efforts to build a team of world-class engineers across Munich and Germany.
Expanding Apple’s Engineering Teams in Munich
Using the M1 chip, the teams created custom silicone for the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Mac, which provides excellent performance and high performance. Over the past decade, Apple’s discovery of energy efficiency has reduced average production power consumption by more than 70%.
In 2019 the company added silicon engineering sites at Naber in Kirchhim Undertech. At present, half of Apple’s global power management design team is based in Germany, with Apple’s application processor SoCs in Munich and analog and composite signal solutions for the iPhone.
A New Space for Europe’s Largest Mobile Technologies Engineering Team
The new facility will be Apple’s growing cellular unit and the largest R&D site in Europe for mobile wireless semiconductors and software. The team creates 5G and future technologies that bring innovations in all aspects of the wireless experience through the seamless integration of hardware and software engineering.
Contributing to Germany’s Industrial and Technological Success
Over the past five years, Apple has spent 15 billion euros with more than 700 companies of all sizes across Germany. It includes chip makers Infineon, battery company Varta, and family-owned chemical company DELO, which distributes resin for Face ID technology in Apple’s latest products, including the iPhone 12 Pro.
