Global fab equipment spending may reach record USD 109 billion in 2022: SEMI
The International Semiconductor Industry Association (SEMI) released a report saying that in 2022, global front-end fab equipment spending is expected to increase by 20% over the same period last year, hitting a record $109 billion to a record high.

Moreover, the report said this is the third consecutive year of growth in global fab equipment spending, following a 42% increase in 2021. Fab equipment investment is expected to remain strong in 2023.
Global front-end fab equipment spending will cross the $100 billion thresholds for the first time, said Ajit Manocha, president, and CEO of SEMI. Taiwan is expected to lead fab equipment spending in 2022, with investment increasing by 52% year-on-year to $34 billion.
In addition, SEMI said that fab equipment spending in the Americas will reach $9.3 billion in 2023, up 13% year on year after a 19% year-on-year increase in 2022.
