Google is reportedly dealing with investigation cases these days and in the latest edition, South Africa called out the company for news and ad revenue matters. As per the country’s Competition Commission, the US tech giant is using anti-competitive practices with news publishers.
The information further reveals that authorities in South Africa will not only question Google for news and ad revenue but also about how the company is utilizing its bargaining power. It will also check whether ‘market features’ have any sort of impact on the competition.
For the moment, companies like Google and Meta will be under the lenses. In the meantime, tech firms like X, Bing, YouTube, TikTok, and Google Ads will soon join the inquiry.
