Samsung Galaxy S21 expected shipments for this year will be higher than Galaxy S20 in South Korea: Report

Currently, the Galaxy S21 series is the latest flagship lineup from Samsung. The company unveiled these smartphones on January 14, 2021, at the Galaxy Unpacked event. The Galaxy S21 lineup includes three premium phones, the Galaxy S21, S21 +, and S21 Ultra.

The Galaxy S21 models feature the latest and most powerful hardware and software capabilities such as the Snapdragon 888/Exynos 2100 processor, Wi-Fi 6E, Android 11, larger batteries, and a dynamic AMOLED display with a 120 Hz upgrade rate, and more.

However, with the launch of these smartphones, Samsung has started taking pre-orders and shipping to consumers from January 29th.

Meanwhile, a report revealed that sales of Samsung’s new line of smartphones will reach 2.4 million units in South Korea this year, as tech giant Apple expands its presence against the iPhone 12.

According to Counterpoint Research concludes that sales of the Galaxy S21 device are 40 percent higher than sales of the Galaxy S20, which sold 1.7 million units last year.

The Galaxy S21 series was released a month earlier than the regular schedule, and the entry-level S21 is priced at $908, the lowest price of Samsung’s 5G flagship smartphone.

The regional mobile carriers are also increasing discounts for Galaxy S21 smartphone buyers. Besides Counterpoint Research says rising demand for unlocked phones will boost the Galaxy S21’s sales.

And unlocked phones refer to mobile devices that are not associated with mobile carrier agreements, suggesting that customers do not have to sign up for expensive 5G monthly plans or additional services when they receive the handset.

Samsung has added more color options for the unlocked S21 Ultra, the high-end model of the S21 lineup, to attract more customers who want to buy their own smartphone.

Counterpoint Research says sales of Samsung and Apple smartphones are likely to pick up this year as LG Electronics exits the smartphone business. Market researchers have previously estimated that Samsung will have a 65 percent share of the domestic smartphone market.
