According to the latest report, Credit Suisse analysts predict that the 3-week shutdown of the Shanghai Gigafactory in April will affect Tesla’s production of electric vehicles in the second quarter, which in turn will affect the delivery volume, which is expected to be significantly higher than that in the first quarter down, but still higher than the same period last year.

Judging from the two analysts at Credit Suisse said in a report to investors that they expect Tesla to deliver 242,000 electric vehicles to consumers in the second quarter. According to this expectation, Tesla’s deliveries in the second quarter will drop significantly compared with the first quarter. In the first quarter of this year, Tesla produced 305,400 electric vehicles and delivered more than 310,000.
Two new factories were put into operation in the first quarter, and Tesla, whose production capacity continues to increase, is expected to see a significant drop in deliveries in the second quarter, which is related to the shutdown of the Shanghai Gigafactory in April, which was shut down for three weeks in April.
Analysts said in their report that while the Shanghai Gigafactory quickly returned to normal output levels after the resumption of production, they still believe the shutdown resulted in 90,000 fewer electric vehicles being produced in the second quarter.
The two analysts also mentioned in their report that Musk said in Tesla’s first-quarter earnings analyst conference call that deliveries in the second quarter were basically the same as or slightly lower than the first quarter, but they believe that the shutdown of the Shanghai Gigafactory has been longer than expected, and the production capacity of the Austin and Berlin Gigafactories has also been ramped up more slowly, which means that Tesla’s overall production has declined.
Although Tesla’s deliveries in the second quarter are expected to decline significantly from the first quarter, analysts’ expectations are still an increase from the same period last year. Data disclosed by Tesla shows that they produced 206,400 electric vehicles in the second quarter of last year and delivered 201,250 to consumers.
