AMD’s new generation of mobile processors has 16-core CPU: Report
Today, RedGamingTech released more information about AMD’s next-generation mobile processors “Phoenix” and “Dragon Range” for your reference. First look at Dragon Range, this APU is aimed at gaming laptops, so its core display is very small, with only 2 CUs. The core counts of this series of APUs are as follows:
- R9 7980HX: 16 cores
- R9 7900HX 12 cores
- R7 7800HX 8 cores
- R5 7600HX 6 cores

Let’s look at the Phoenix series of APUs. This series will still use the highest 8-core CPU specifications, but the core display performance has greatly increased. The revealer believes that Phoenix’s nuclear display will have a 1536 stream processor, the frequency will reach 2.6 GHz to 3 GHz, and the power consumption of this series can reach 60-70W.
At the 2022 AMD Financial Analyst Day, AMD shared the roadmap for a new generation of laptop processors. As shown in the figure below, AMD’s new generation of mobile CPU codenamed “Phoenix Point”, using 4nm process, Zen4 architecture, equipped with RDNA3 GPU, with AIE engine.
