Apple allegedly working on a cheaper external screen to replace the Thunderbolt display

As the multiple reports suggest, Apple is working on several products with new changes in design and other internal hardware. The company will introduce new iMacs, iPad Pro 2021, MacBook Pro with Mini LED display, etc. The company is also working on some more new products as this latest report from Bloomberg suggests.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple has begun the early development of a lower-priced external display that will be sold with its high-end Pro Display XDR. This display will be the successor to Apple’s previous Thunderbolt display and is more consumer-oriented rather than professional. The Thunderbolt display was launched in 2011, priced at US$ 999, and was discontinued in 2016.

According to the report, compared with Pro Display XDR, Apple’s new low-cost display has lower brightness and contrast, while Pro Display XDR is priced as high as 4,999 US dollars.

There is no news about the size, resolution, or other specifications of Apple’s new low-cost display, but Pro Display XDR is equipped with a 32-inch 6K display, while the Thunderbolt display is 27-inch with QHD resolution ( 2560×1440), the front bezel of the new monitor is expected to be much narrower than the Thunderbolt monitor.
