Apple cuts the production of iPhone 12 Mini in favour of iPhone 12 Pro to meet demands

Apple launched the iPhone 12 series back in October 2020 which was delayed as per the previous launch schedule of the company. For the first time, the US tech giant introduced four iPhone models that are iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max.

As per the previous reports, the iPhone 12 Mini has not been that successful for the company as it was expected to be. While the popularity of the iPhone 12 Pro has grown over time and now the company is shifting its iPhone 12 Mini production in favor of the iPhone 12 Pro by two million units.

According to the reports, the iPhone 12 Mini production has only managed to capture just 6 percent of the total sales during the launch period. In the United States, the non-pro models of the iPhone 12 haven’t got much consumers’ attention while the Pro models are in high demand.

“‌iPhone 12 Pro‌ lead times remain extended far beyond any model launched in the past 4 years at 10 days. Lead times decreased from 22 days ~2 weeks ago as Apple ramps iPhone 12 production signaled by our iPhone supply chain team, led by Sharon Shih, recently raising March quarter ‌iPhone 12 Pro‌ builds by 2M units (which offset a 2M build reduction for the ‌iPhone 12 mini‌).”

That is the reason why Apple decided to switch the focus on the more popular iPhone 12 Pro. Although, the non-pro variants are gaining much attention from customers in the Chinese market where the iPhone 12 have gained a 20.3 percent market share.
