According to the latest report, Octa PD technology solves the problem that smartphone cameras have when focusing on multiple objects, such as when the sun is behind them, the camera can focus on both the face and the background of the landmark.
In addition to developing new technologies, Sony will increase the production capacity of its main image sensor factory, Nagasaki Plant (Isahaya City, Nagasaki Prefecture).
Sony has been the No. 1 player in the image sensor market, but its rivals Samsung and OmniVision are closing the market share gap with Sony. Despite this, Sony last month announced a goal to grow its global image sensor market by fiscal 2025 and its share expanded to 60%.
