Google plans to bring a new bottom-mounted address bar for Chrome. It’s pretty similar to what we have in Apple’s in-built browsing app and will make the internet surfing experience more convenient. While the capability sounds quite good, it will remain confined to iPhone users.
According to the inputs revealed by The Tape Driver, Google Chrome now shows an option to move the URL address bar to the bottom of the screen. However, users still have the choice to keep this section at the bottom or the top of the display.
To check the availability of this feature, you need to enroll in TestFlight updates for Google Chrome on iOS, which will serve you the latest beta versions of the browser on iPhone. Ahead, users need to type ‘chrome://flags’ into the address bar and search for ‘bottom-omnibox-steady-state’ to obtain the correct flag.
Enable it, visit iOS settings > Chrome’s settings, and switch the address bar location. Something similar was being tested for Android as well. But the company never launched it. Let’s see whether we will get such a change in the future or not.
