Google Maps is now showing a strange functionality for both Android and iOS devices, where users are required to swipe rather than tap to see the full-screen navigation. Further, the company is displaying a new prompt on the screen saying – ‘To see the full map, swipe up on the search bar’.
Eventually, things are the same when you want to hide the search bar and other UI elements from Google Maps to capture a full-screen view, just swipe up and that’s it. However, the new modification isn’t satisfying. One would still prefer a quick tap instead of swipe gestures.

It is so because tapping on the screen lets you interact easily with the layer that you want to focus on. Meanwhile, the latest change often needs to swipe up twice to hold down the full-screen view. The new tweak first showed up in February and is now rolling to more Android and iOS users.
