Intel releases 11th-gen Core U-series CPUs supporting 5G networking

At the 2021 Taipei International Computer Show (Computex 2021) held today, Intel announced the two newest members of the 11th generation Intel Core Mobile processor, the models are i7-1195G7, i5- 1155G7.

These two new products belong to the Tiger Lake U series of low-voltage processors, both of which are 4 cores and 8 threads, and are manufactured using a 10nm SuperFin process. Among them, i7-1195G7 belongs to the top product of this series, the main frequency can reach up to 5GHz. The i5-1155G7 single-core turbo frequency can reach 4.5GHz.

Both products support DDR4-3200 and LPDDR4x-4266 memory, built-in Intel Iris Xe core display, up to 96EU. The processor has more improvements in performance and AI capabilities, and both new products support Intel Wi-Fi 6/6E technology.

Intel expects to have more than 60 models equipped with Intel Core i7-1195G7 and i5-1155G7 by the end of 2021, and notebook computers from Acer, Asus, Lenovo, and MSI will be the first to be launched this summer.

By the end of this year, there will be nearly 250 laptop models equipped with the 11th generation Intel Core Mobile processor (U series) on the market. At today’s Taipei Computer Show, Intel also launched its first 5G solution- Intel 5G 5000.

This solution has global operator certification and uses M.2 interface. The 5G connection speed of this solution is nearly 5 times that of the previous Intel Gigabit LTE. Intel cooperated with MediaTek to provide product definition, development, certification and support for 5G modem solutions for the next-generation PC experience and cooperated with Fibocom to provide 5G M.2 solutions (FM350-GL).

The combination of 5G high-speed connection and Intel Wi-Fi 6E (Gig+) can achieve a seamless and smooth experience between different network types. As Intel sets new standards for mobile computing, Wi-Fi and 5G will become the main pillars to meet the general interconnection needs in the future.

Intel recently announced two Intel 5G 5000 solution ecosystem cooperation, including cooperation with China Mobile, HP, MediaTek, and DoCoMo, which will bring users a new generation of fully connected PCs. In the future, 5G high-speed connections and Intel Wi-Fi 6E will be able to achieve a seamless and smooth experience between different network types.

In addition, Intel’s 11th-generation Core U-series processors can also be combined with the 2nd-generation Optane H20 hybrid solid-state drive, which can bring faster response and large-capacity storage, thus speeding up the process from daily applications, large media, The running speed of game file management, etc. Officials say that this method can increase the opening speed of applications such as Adobe Photoshop by 49%.
