Nintendo Switch becomes the 6th best selling console in Japan
According to Famitsu’s estimates, the Switch in Japan surpassed the Famicom, Super Famicom, and slightly behind the PlayStation Portable in sales. It is estimated that over 19 million consoles have been sold domestically
But it takes time for it to be able to climb the podium, in third place is the Nintendo 3DS with 24.73 million devices sold in Japan, the second is the Game Boy with 32.47 million devices and conquering the top, where DS resides with almost 33 million consoles.

Analysts predict the Switch will overtake the PSP by May, the current sales gap is negligible, and then snatch the fourth position from the PlayStation 2 by November thanks to the launch of the Pokemon Diamond & Pearl remakes.
To defeat the 3DS, Game Boy, and DS, you will have to wait until 2022 and hope for the continued success of the console. At home, as in the rest of the world, the Switch remains a successful console despite the arrival of the much more advanced PS5 and Xbox Series X.
In Japan, Nintendo Switch is now the 6th best selling console of all time.
5th spot from PSP should be taken in May
4th from PS2 taken around Nov. (with Pokémon)
3rd from 3DS taken mid 2022DS and GB are very far (need 22/23 to be almost as big as 20/21) but who knows… pic.twitter.com/jG1vHF2J5O
