Currently, the latest chipsets that are available in the market are based on the 5-nanometer process. Recently with the iPhone 12 series, Apple launched its A14 Bionic chip that was the first-ever processor that was launched at 5nm. Since then, other manufacturer’s like Samsung, Qualcomm has also revealed their 5nm based SoC’s that are Snapdragon 888 and Exynos 1080.
Likewise, Huawei also launched its 5-nm based Kirin 9000 series of chipsets which includes Kirin 9000 and Kirin 9000E. We can find these processors in the company’s latest Mate 40 series smartphones.
Now, the latest leak coming from a Twitter user @RODENT950 suggests that the Chinese phone maker is focusing on a new chipset that will be based on the 3nm process, this next-generation processor will be named Kirin 9010. Meanwhile, some people suggest that it’s too early for Huawei to jump on the 3nm as the 5nm based chipsets are just launched.

If Huawei launches the chipset as early as at the end of this year then it could become the first company to jump to 3nm. Looking at this, other chip manufacturer’s including Qualcomm and Samsung will also plan for the 3nm process, following Huawei.
However, Qualcomm is already planning for the successor of the Snapdragon 888 chipset that will be called as the Snapdragon 888 Plus which will make its way to the smartphones launching in the fourth quarter of this year.
Also, Samsung is yet to unveil another chipset that will be used in the upcoming Galaxy S21 smartphones called Exynos 2100. It remains to be seen which company will be the first to jump to 3nm based SoCs. This range of chipsets will be more power-efficient and fast in comparison with the 5nm.
