On March 26, Huawei officially launched three 5G flagship phones, Huawei P40, P40 Pro and P40 Pro+, running EMUI 10.1 based on Android 10 OS. They have three, four and five cameras respectively.
Huawei launched the P40 series without Google Mobile Services, instead offering its own alternative — Huawei Mobile Services. There’s a lack of services like Gmail, Chrome, YouTube, and others, the Chinese company is positioning its AppGallery as an alternative to the Play Store.

Huawei P40 series is available in zero white, deep-sea blue, bright black, morning light gold, and frost silver. The nano-ceramic back cover used by the P40 Pro is available in ceramic black and ceramic white.
In terms of screen, the Huawei P40 comes with a 6.1-inch OLED screen, 2340×1080 resolution, DCI-P3 color gamut, while the P40 Pro and P40 Pro+ have 6.58-inch OLED screens, 2640×1200 resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, DCI-P3 HDR color gamut.
In core specs, the Huawei P40 series uses the Kirin 990 5G processor, the 7nm EUV process 5G processor. Compared with the previous generation processors, the CPU performance is increased by 23%, the GPU performance is increased by 39%, and the NPU performance is increased by 460%.
In the camera department, the entire P40 series comes standard with Huawei’s largest 1/1.28-inch sensor to date and a large unit pixel size of 2.44 μm to provide more light input. In terms of zoom, the P40 Pro can achieve 5x optical zoom, 10x hybrid zoom, and 50x digital zoom, while the P40 Pro+ supports 10x optical zoom, 20x hybrid zoom, and up to 100x digital zoom.
In addition, the P40 Pro and P40 Pro+ are newly added with a 40-megapixel ultra-sensitive movie lens. They have a 1/1.54-inch ultra-large photosensitive sensor, an equivalent 18mm ultra-wide-angle field of view, and can aggregate 16 pixels into a 4.48μm superpixel. Achieve mobile phone camera ISO 51200 sensitivity, 7680fps ultra-high-speed photography.
In terms of batteries, the P40 is equipped with a 3800mAh battery and supports 22.5W fast charging, while the P40 Pro and P40 Pro+ have 4200mAh batteries, which support 40W wired fast charging and 27W and 40W wireless fast charging, and also supports reverse charging.
In terms of networks, the P40 series supports 5G SA/NSA dual-mode and supports more full 5G frequency bands. It supports the latest WiFi 6+ technology with a speed of up to 2400Mbps.
In terms of OS, the P40 series uses the EMUI 10.1 based on Android 10 OS. The EMUI 10.1 brings a richer and smarter full-scene experience and supports connected calls, screen sharing, one-touch transmission, one-touch projection, one-touch networking, and multi-screen collaboration.
The last is the price, Huawei P40 8GB + 128GB will cost 799 euros and the P40 Pro 8GB + 256GB for 999 Euros. While the P40 Pro+ 8GB with 512GB storage will cost 1399 Euros. The Huawei P40 and P40 Pro will be available globally starting from April 7. The P40 Pro Plus will go on sale in June 2020.
