New patent reveals the design of Apple’s first foldable with an invisible crease

Apple has applied for a patent for a new technology that will make its devices foldable without creases. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office completed the patent application on March 8.

The new patent shows how to cut the inside of the glass cover at the folding part of the device so that it can bend easily and smoothly. The cover would have a polymer material, such as silicone or acrylate, that would reduce light reflection and create a smooth surface.

Apple wants to use this technology for products like iPhones, hybrid tablets (pads), laptops, and more. After choosing its main partners, the company plans to launch its first foldable phone in 2026.

As the senior Apple official, the foldable iPhone would be thinner and lighter than its competitors and feature cutting-edge technologies. The official also said that the goal was to prevent crease marks, which are a common problem for other foldable devices.
