Nothing phone (1) just shown off in hands-on video, detailing the phone’s unique LEDs

Yesterday, YouTube blogger Marques Brownlee released a video about getting started with the Nothing Phone (1) real phone, giving us a better understanding of this phone. However, since the phone has not been officially released yet, the video mainly introduces the light bar on the back of the Nothing Phone (1).

From the video, we can see that there are large light bars on the back of the phone, which are distributed around the camera, wireless charging coil, the upper right corner of the fuselage, and near the Type-C interface.

According to Marques Brownlee, Nothing’s light strips are called “glyph interfaces” and consist of more than 900 individual LEDs embedded in the back of the phone, and these LED lights are very feature-rich.

The specific functions are as follows:

  • All white light bars flash when the phone receives a notification.

  • When the phone is wirelessly charging or reverse wirelessly charging, the light bar around the wireless charging coil will light up.

  • When the data cable is inserted for wired charging, the light bar at the bottom of the charging interface will glow, turning into a battery indicator bar. And the light bar won’t stay on when charging. If you want to check the charging progress, you can shake the phone to make the light bar glow again, and reincarnate as the charging progress indicator bar.

  • When using the camera, all light bars can be illuminated at the same time as fill lights.

  • There is a small red light bead on the back of the fuselage, which will flash when shooting a video.

In the phone settings, Nothing Phone (1) also offers complete customization, like having different lighting patterns for different ringtones. This way, even if the phone is muted, you can know who is contacting you through the LED light on the back.

Marques Brownlee believes that in subsequent updates, Nothing Phone will continue to optimize the function of the back LED light and provide richer customization settings.

The video introduces only this picture on the front of the fuselage. We can see that Nothing Phone (1) adopts a straight screen design with a hole in the upper left corner, and the lock screen interface is Nothing’s Android-based Nothing OS.

Nothing Phone (1) is the first mobile phone under the Nothing Technologies company founded by OnePlus co-founder Pei Yu. It is planned to be launched in India on July 12 with a transparent back shell design.

According to the Nothing Phone (1) user manual leaked on Amazon, the Nothing Phone (1) will feature a 6.43-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display that supports a 90 Hz screen refresh rate and HDR10+. The phone has a built-in Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G processor and Adreno 642 GPU. There’s also 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
