Official: Google Pixel 6a will get Android security updates for at least 5 years

Google has officially announced that the forthcoming smartphone Pixel 6a will receive Android security updates for 5 years. The company has pasted the new information on its official Store page. Alongside the key specs that the device will offer to its users, the tech maker also mentioned reports about the updates.

Updates for 5 years

Google shared the decision of rolling out the 6th version of its handset in India at the I/O 2022 event. Thereafter, the US firm officially confirmed new specifications, features, and updates for Google Pixel 6a on its page. This is what the company explains about the updated program for the device:

“Pixel 6 & Pixel 6 Pro phones will get Pixel updates for at least 5 years from when the device first became available on the Google Store in the US. Pixel updates include Pixel security updates, and may also include feature drops and other software updates.”

Key Specs

The high-tech handset will appear with a 6.1-inch OLED FHD+ display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. Besides, the refresh rate remains at 60Hz while the pixel density goes to 429 PPI. Further, it brings a dual-lens setup consisting of a 12MP main shooter and a 12MP ultrawide lens. Meanwhile, the front camera attaches an 8MP selfie cam slot on the front face of the device.
