OnePlus Open Fold launch is around the corner and the manufacturer has already unveiled it officially. At the same time, OnePlus cited that it has no plans regarding a flip-flop foldable phone, despite its excessive demand in the smartphone market.
Yes! At least for the current moment, the Chinese OEM has kept a new OnePlus flip foldable phone out of the cards. Explaining the reasons, the Co-founder of OnePlus – Pete Lau said that the target for the first-ever ‘Open’ handset is based on ‘business elites’ including doctors, financial workers, and executives.
However, there isn’t a specific motive for clamshell models. Even though we are constantly seeing innovations in the flip-flop shelves such as Galaxy Z Flip 5, Motorola Razr, and of course, the ultimate OPPO Find N3 Flip which has given a new definition to folding gadgets! This makes it a bit odd that OnePlus doesn’t have any major plans on this subject.
“Target users of the first-generation folding phone of OnePlus are more like the business elites and technology elites. They are people who work in finance, they are engineers, doctors, etc. They are more or less the users of the OnePlus slab-style flagships. But the target users of flip phones, are not quite matched. So that is why, at this stage, we don’t have the plan to launch a flip phone.”
But that doesn’t completely put a full stop on the flip phone production from the brand. Perhaps, we may find changes in the time ahead. By that time, we will continue to explore the first-ever OnePlus Open foldable.
