Qualcomm will launch a budget 5G chipset named Snapdragon 480 5G today: Tipster

The 5G smartphones are getting more attention nowadays as the 5G services across the globe continue to grow. To fulfill the demands phone makers are also planning for budget smartphones with support for 5G connectivity. Looking at this, the chip giant Qualcomm is also preparing for some budget SoCs.

According to the latest news coming from the tipster, @stufflistings suggests that Qualcomm is ready to unveil its new budget 5G processor built at the 8-nanometer process. This will bring the 5G services to the smartphones at a  more affordable price range.

Based on the 5nm process, the Snapdragon 480 5G SoC will feature Kyro 460 Octa cores with a frequency of 2GHz. The chipset will have support for up to 120Hz display refresh rate and WiFi 6. The Andreno 619 will provide a smooth gaming experience and it is said to bring 100% improvements over the previous Snapdragon 460 SoC.

We’ll see some more details of the chipset once it goes official. Also, it remains to be seen, which companies will be using this new chipset and what will be the price of the smartphones releasing with the Snapdragon 480 5G chipset.
