Samsung Galaxy A16 battery appears on BIS certification

Samsung seems to be working on a new Galaxy A-series smartphone, the Galaxy A16. Now, the battery of the upcoming device has been spotted on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification database.

As per the details, the battery of Galaxy A16 has been listed on the BIS certification with two different model numbers EB-BA166ASE and EB-BA166ASY. The database also confirms that the listed device is a 5G variant of Galaxy A16.

Although the exact battery capacity of the Galaxy A16 is unknown at the moment. But Samsung’s recent track record suggests it may feature a 5,000mAh battery, similar to the Galaxy A13 5G, Galaxy A14 5G, and Galaxy A15 5G.

The Galaxy A16 5G smartphone is expected to launch later this year or early next year. Samsung has not officially announced a release date, but the appearance on BIS certification indicates the device’s imminent launch in India.

Some previous reports also hinted the cost of upcoming A series models including A16 and A06 will not exceed €200. While, the Korean tech giant has started internal testing on Galaxy A16 with model numbers SM-A166B.

In addition to the Galaxy A16, the batteries of the Galaxy S25 Ultra have also appeared on the BIS certification with model numbers EB-BS938ABE and EB-BS938ABY. Read more.
