Samsung starts software development of the Galaxy S21

Last month, Samsung introduced the Galaxy Note 20 series and the company has started the software development of the upcoming Galaxy S series flagships.

According to a report, Samsung has already started the software development of the Galaxy S21 series in the US, for the carrier-locked devices. The Software is based on Google’s upcoming Android 11 OS.

As a tradition, Samsung releases the flagship Galaxy S-series with One UI X.1 versions, it means the software version of the Galaxy S21 series will be One UI 3.1, just like the One UI 2.1 of the Galaxy S20 series this year.

As per the information, the company is developing the software for the 5G variants of the Galaxy S21 series in the US, which makes clear sense. The model numbers of the upcoming devices are SM-G991U, SM-G996U, and SM-G998U, likely to launch as the Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra respectively.

At the launch of the Galaxy Note 20 series last month, Samsung made an announcement that the device launched with Android 9 or later versions will be eligible for the 3 platform updates.
