Samsung plans to ship more than 45 million 5G-enabled smartphones this year, according to TheElec.
The 45 million-plus number is nearly 7 times that of the 5G smartphones the company shipped in 2019, and 15% of the 300 million handsets Samsung plans to ship this year.

In December 2019, China’s Huawei said it would be shipping 100 million 5G smartphones in China alone. But according to some critics, it would be difficult to ship that many 5G smartphones due to a shortage of 5G networks in China.
According to the Counterpoint report, Samsung has a 53.9% market share of global 5G smartphones. The company had shipped 6.7 million 5G smartphones until November 2019. In Q3 2019, Samsung secured a 74% share in the 5G smartphone market, where LG had 10%.
While the Chinese smartphone makers: VIVO selling 400,000 smartphones, followed by Huawei, Oppo, and Xiaomi, which sold 100,000 each.
Samsung is looking to ship around 4.5 million foldable smartphones, which is about 8 times the number of Galaxy Fold smartphones sold in 2019.
