Samsung recently unveiled its next-gen foldable smartphone, Galaxy Z Fold 2 as a successor to the older Galaxy Fold. The company improved such hardware properties of its latest foldable device. On the basis of recent reports, it looks like the South Korean tech firm is likely to put foldable smartphones in the mainstream by introducing other types of folding screens.
Samsung is preparing for the future era of foldable smartphones. According to the Korean media, the South Korean tech giant is still exploring other concepts, such as cover lift and rollable display designs.

Although clamshell and foldable shape designs already exist, Samsung is reportedly planning to launch its first-ever smartphone with a rollable display next year. However, it is still unclear when the company has planned to introduce this device.
This is not surprising news because Samsung privately revealed a rollable foldable display device to potential buyers in last year’s CES. Since then, many rumors about Samsung’s roll-up display phones have spread. The company also applied for a patent to show what the new shape design might look like.

However, Samsung is not the only company that is developing a roll-up display smartphone. LG also wants to join the competition and planning to launch its first roll-up smartphone next year.
Currently, it is not confirmed that Samsung will reveal a rollable/curled display smartphone. Still, Samsung is looking for ways to improve its foldable smartphone segment and preparing to introduce even more and new types of foldable smartphones to bring this type of device into mainstream market.
