As we know, the Android operating system is able to install system software updates in the background with only a quick reboot for implementing the revisions.
However, several OEMs provide new software updates to their different eligible devices every month, the quick adaptation process became an important functionality.
Following this episode, a new report suggests that Samsung’s recently launched Galaxy S21 series devices lack the support for seamless updates.
A reliable source revealed that he couldn’t find any mention of A/B updates in a system image from a Galaxy S21 device. Even, the seamless update functionality also can’t be found in Treble Info and Treble Check applications.

Android works on the two update mechanisms – A/B (seamless) update and non-A/B update. To reduce code complexity and improve update capability, Android 11 added these two mechanisms.
The new update mechanism combines the advantages of the two predecessors by seamlessly updating all devices without reducing virtual A/B storage costs.
However, Android 11 devices have mandatory to adopt A/B partitions but it is still unclear why Samsung is not providing the seamless update functionality by going against Google’s terms.
