Samsung may launch an $800 foldable but not with Galaxy Z Fold6 and Flip6 devices
Samsung may launch the Galaxy Z Flip6 and Fold6 in mid-July 2024. The company is also preparing to introduce an affordable Galaxy Z Fold, which could debut later this year instead of joining the Unpacked phase in July.
TheElec reports that Samsung may launch the Galaxy Z Flip6 and Z Fold6 foldables earlier than planned. Production of parts for the next generation of foldable phones is running about 2-3 weeks ahead of last year’s models. Sources say Samsung suppliers will begin mass production of parts for the new foldable as early as May. Mass production of the Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 begins in late May 2023, leading the Z6 series by about 2-3 weeks.
This year’s first entry-level foldable model, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE/Lite, is expected to be released in September-October, 2-3 months after the regular Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 models.
The iPhone 16 series will also be unveiled around the same time. The modest shipment target of the Z Fold 6 FE/Lite is 200,000 to 300,000 units, however, this may still draw customers’ attention away from Apple’s new flagship.
