Samsung today announced the next generation of foldable smartphones: the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4. These two devices feature customizable form factors, tailored experiences, and upgraded performance.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4:
The Galaxy Z Flip 4 features an iconic form factor, adding key features, including an upgraded camera experience, a larger battery, and expanded customization. It features a compact clamshell design that offers unique experiences not available on any other smartphone.
The Flip 4 comes with the FlexCam camera feature. Thanks to a partnership with Meta, FlexCam is optimized for social platforms, including Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook. It also comes with a Quick Shot camera feature, the users are now able to take selfies in Portrait Mode and see a preview of the actual photo ratio when using Quick Shot.
The Galaxy Z Flip 4 has a 3700mAh battery for longer uses, 400 mAh more than the Flip 3. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 supports 25W wired charging speed, but the Wireless charging is limited to 15W. With Super Fast Charging, you can charge up to 50% in around 30 minutes.
The Flip 4 retains a stronger 6.7-inch 120Hz display. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB of internal storage options.
It runs the Android 12-based One UI 4.1.1 out of the box. According to Samsung, the Flip 4 will get up to 4 years of major Android updates and up to 5 years of security patches.
In the camera department, there’s a 12MP primary with 65% more light and a 12MP ultrawide setup here, with a 10MP front camera in the display.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4:
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is the first device to ship with Android 12L, a special version of Android created by Google for large-screen experiences, including foldable.
Multitasking on the Z Fold 4 is easier than ever, thanks to the new Taskbar and new swipe gestures. The Taskbar provides a layout similar to your PC, offering access to your favorite and recent apps. Using new swipe gestures, you can instantly switch full-screen apps to pop-up windows or split your screen in half for more ways to multitask. Using Flex Mode Touchpad, users can even control the device without disrupting the content for non-compatible apps.
Thanks to partnerships with Google, Google apps, including Chrome and Gmail now support drag-and-drop, allowing users to quickly copy and paste links, photos, and more from one app to another. While Microsoft’s partnership brings full Office suite and Outlook advantage to the Galaxy Z Fold 4.
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 takes stunning photos and videos with an upgraded 50MP wide lens and 30x Space Zoom lens. You will see several camera modes, including the larger Zoom map activated on Capture View Mode, Dual Preview, and Rear Cam Selfie are custom-built to take advantage of the unique form factor for increased capturing flexibility. There’s a 12MP ultrawide camera as well.
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 has a 7.6-inch main inner display with a brighter screen, a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and a less visible Under Display Camera (UDC).
Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 features Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, 12GB of RAM, and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of storage options. The Fold 4 has a 4,400 mAh battery with 25W wired charging and 15W wireless charging.
According to official information, the Galaxy Fold 4 will also get up to four years of major Android updates and up to five years of security patches.
Both the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4 are equipped with IPX8 water resistance.

The new Galaxy Z series will be available starting August 26, 2022, on Samsung.com, Samsung Experience Store, and major carriers and retailers. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 starts at $999.99 and will come in legacy colors: Bora Purple and Graphite, and new colors: Pink Gold, and Blue.
Only on Samsung.com and at Samsung Experience Stores can customers design their very own Z Flip 4 Bespoke Edition with glass colors and frame options that provide 75 combinations to choose from.
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 will start at $1799.99 and is offered in refined colors that include Gray-green, Beige, and Phantom Black. Additionally, Galaxy Z Fold 4 is available in Burgundy in 256GB and 512GB models, and 1TB exclusively on Samsung.com.
