The AMD AM5 socket has 1,718 pins. They are staggered, forming two solid fields with a small gap between them. All auxiliary components are located on the front side of the substrate, around the crystal (or crystals). The substrate area is 40 x 40 mm, which means that the new processors will be about the same size as their AM4 predecessors.

According to preliminary data, AM5 only supports DDR5, with no backward compatibility with DDR4. More precisely, the signals of the dual-channel DDR5 memory interface are output to the connector. The PCIe 4.0 interface is represented by 28 lanes, 16 of which are for expansion slots, 4 for the M.2 slot.
The remaining 8 will probably be used as a bus for a set of system logic. Given the PCIe Gen 4 specification, the next generation AMD X670 chipset (successor to the X570) can double the bandwidth of the Intel Z590 chipset. According to the source, AMD AM5 processors, known by the codename Raphael, can have a TDP of 120W to 170W.
