Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 gains support for Wear OS 4 Watch Unlock feature
Android 13-based Wear OS 4 will pack several outstanding features in its bag and one of them is the ‘Watch Unlock’ which seems to support the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 series. Though the function has not launched yet. But it is showing up for the dynamic wearable in advance.
The story came to the spotlight when the Android nomad – Mishaal Rahman noted that the latest released Wear OS 4 update for the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 has a specific code string related to the Watch Unlock feature – “com.google.android.clockwork.active_unlock”.
Notably, the same feature has been spotted on Pixel Watch 2 in the Google Play Console listing and Galaxy Watch 6 devices. Perhaps, after the top-end wrist gadgets, the tech giant is bringing the new capability to other eligible devices.
One UI Watch 5 based on Android 13 is rolling out for the Galaxy Watch 5, and as I suspected, the build declares the https://t.co/izeCCqNhVF_unlock feature. Active Unlock is the name for the API underpinning the upcoming Watch Unlock feature.

As mentioned, the feature is not available. However, whenever it is live, users of the above-listed smartwatches will be able to use it right away. Watch Unlock lets you simplify the unlock procedure on a connected Android phone or Chromebook and can work as a Smart Lock.
