In a bold move, Samsung has decided to discontinue the support for Tizen OS smartwatch completely in 2025. The decision comes as Samsung aims to streamline its smartwatch offerings and focus on a unified software platform called Wear OS-based One UI Watch.
As per the information, a Reddit user shared a screenshot, in which a member of the Galaxy Store Operations team shed light on Samsung’s decision to completely phase out Tizen OS support for Samsung Galaxy Watches by 2025.
The email outlines a timeline for the termination of Tizen-based smartwatches from the platform, indicating a significant shift in Samsung’s smartwatch ecosystem. Below you can check Samsung’s ceasing schedule for Tizen OS wearable.

The first phase of discontinuation will begin later this year, which means, the Galaxy Store will stop selling paid Tizen watch content, including apps, watch faces, and more to Tizen OS-powered watches by September 30, 2024.
Galaxy Store will also stop allowing new downloads of free Tizen watch content next year in May. While, the My Apps section will stop allowing re-downloads, effectively ending the ability to access any further paid or free Tizen content by September 30, 2025.
Not only this, the firm also mentions that core services related to the Tizen OS watch will stop everywhere except the Galaxy Store after May 2025. Furthermore, the Tizen developer portal might also stop releasing new apps or updates possibly in June 2025.
However, now it remains to be seen how Samsung will address the needs of current Tizen-based smartwatch users. As the termination schedule applies to all Samsung Gear smartwatches, Galaxy Watch, Galaxy Watch 3, Galaxy Watch Active, and Galaxy Watch Active 2.
