Xiaomi is bringing Apple’s iOS 14 and Google’s Pixel phones like Back Tap gestures to MIUI 12

Xiaomi is working hard to port some of Google’s best features on its own platform. According to a recent report, the latest MIUI 12 beta version includes some code that showed the Xiaomi is working on a new feature called Back Tap gesture.

Google was spotted working on a back tap feature which would allow for Pixel devices on Android 11. Google’s Pixel devices users would be able to launch the Camera, Google Assistant, playing and pausing music, and more. After Google, Apple rollout a similar feature, as iOS 14 allows double and triple taps on the back of the phone to implement the feature and allow users to initiate various tasks. Now Xiaomi is also working on the same feature.

The code within MIUI 12 suggests that the back tap gesture is in active development and these taps will be either double tap or triple tap and they can each be assigned different functions taps will be either double tap or triple tap and they can each be assigned different functions.

The Back Tap gesture feature for MIUI 12 will allows users to take a screenshot, turning on torch, launching the control center, launching the camera, or opening the notification shade and more. However, there’s no information regarding the release of this new feature to end-users.
