Posted on

Surprise! Google has unexpectedly started rolling out the Android 14 Beta 5.1 update for Pixel devices. While we have been waiting for a stable build, the company introduces a new testing version with a handful of fixes and improvements.

As per the revealings, the Android 14 Beta 5.1 update is arriving with the UPB5.230623.005 version. Meanwhile, users holding a Google Pixel Fold or Tablet can identify the firmware with the UPB5.230623.005.A1 build. Notably, the tech giant disabled the trademark live wall poster for Pixel Fold due to performance reasons.

Before checking on the fixes, the latest beta update accompanies the August 2023 security patch and is available for handsets ranging from Pixel 4a 5G to Pixel 7 series, including new foldable as well as tablets.

Android 14 Beta 5.1 – Fixes

  • Fixed an issue that caused the system to stop detecting a SIM card if Fixed Dialing Number (FDN) features were enabled.
  • Fixed an issue that caused connectivity interruptions for devices with carriers using 5G standalone (SA) mode.
  • Fixed an issue for some devices where a blank home screen displays after unlocking the device.
  • Fixed a performance issue by temporarily disabling feather-styled live wallpaper on Pixel Fold. The live wallpaper version will be re-enabled after the other underlying issues are fixed.
