Google begins Health Connect migration to Android 14, but there’s a catch

Google has initiated the Health Connect migration from Play Store to the latest Android 14 system version. The motive behind this activity is to enhance the application and its functions for users. While it sounds quite positive, this migration has resulted in certain app-breaking issues.

Spotted by Google nomad – @MishaalRahman, the tech giant has begun the Health Connect app’s Android 14 migration. Eventually, some users running Pixel devices on Android 14 Beta 5.1 noticed a new statement reading –

“Health Connect (Beta) app is being integrated with the Android system. It needs to be updated to continue syncing with Health Connect.”

Further, the company encourages users to uninstall the Play Store version from their handsets. However, the overall migration process has caused the breaking of data sync with a few fitness apps.

The recent victim is the Whoop and Withings, which shows a pop-up message saying that the app stopped working and needs to be updated. Some users even reported that the app restricted them when they tried to check permissions in the settings on the Whoop app.

Perhaps, these apps require an update to be compatible with the built-in version of Health Connect in Android 14. Of course, the tech maker will resolve this issue with a stable update. But till then, users cannot sync their fitness data using Health Connect on the latest Android 14 beta.
