Android 15 QPR1 update released for Pixel 8 and Pixel 9 on T-Mobile and Google Fi

Google has started rolling out the Android 15 QPR1 update with the December 2024 Feature Drop for Pixel 8 and Pixel 9 users on T-Mobile. This update also applies to customers using Google Fi and other mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs).

  • New Build for T-Mobile Users: On Tuesday, Google released build number AP4A.241205.013.C1 specifically for T-Mobile customers.
  • Availability: The update is accessible via the factory and OTA image sites for manual installation or sideloading. Additionally, over-the-air (OTA) updates are already live, with a 758MB download size reported for Pixel 9 Pro users.

This update introduces several improvements and features, including:

  1. Redesigned Settings App: A cleaner layout with a new “Limit to 80%” option to extend battery lifespan by capping charging.
  2. Updated Quick Settings: Long-pressing Quick Settings now includes a new animation and vibration feedback.
  3. Status Bar Enhancements: Pixel 9 devices have a thicker status bar to better integrate with the front camera.
  4. New Chips for Features: Easier access to options like Casting, screen recording, and content sharing.
  5. Keyboard Globe Icon: A globe icon appears when a keyboard is open for switching languages.
