Android and iOS fights for top spot in global smartphone OS market share
Android and iOS are the two major operating systems in the tech world that are fiercely fighting for the top spot in the global OS market share. While Apple is pacing ahead for the moment, Android won’t take much time to secure a sound position back in the coming days.
Recently, the Counterpoint Research report stated that Apple iOS is taking over the market with incredible performance with a slight decline of 12% year-on-year basis. While Android gradually degraded with a 16% YoY decline.

The research further revealed that despite production issues in China, iOS maintained a high record in the fourth quarter of last year. Major credit for this growth goes to the iPhone 14 series which appeared with ultimate iOS features and resulted in the expansion of software infrastructure in the global market.

Another favorable point for Apple was the recovery stage of the premium phone segment in comparison to the mass market. Thus, these notes made it easier for Apple iOS to secure a good position in the global OS market share, over Android.

On the flip side, the pandemic conditions and macroeconomic headwinds in China put a giant halt to Android’s development. Whereas, iOS possibly made some achievement space here as well, due to the decline of Huawei in the flagship segment.
Speaking of HarmonyOS, it has obtained 2% of the share in the global market and gained an 8% share in China. Since most customers prefer premium gadgets, Apple again got help to increase its iOS share in both China and Global markets.
Eventually, Apple iOS managed to grab productive results in terms of international smartphone OS market share. Although we are sure that Android will soon ripe some fruitful outcomes in the time ahead. Aside, Android 14 is making its way to the release stage, we could expect hype in this market share topic in the time ahead.
