Apple may face fines for breaking in-app billing rules in South Korea

South Korea has begun warning Apple and Google to stop breaking the in-app billing rules. Or else, this may lead to a fine-paying procedure for them. Consequently, the tech giants will be forced to pay a penalty of $50.5 million if they don’t run as per the regulations.

The story began on Friday when the South Korea telecommunication regulator – the Korea Communications Commission (KCC) said that it is considering to fine Apple and Google for breaching in-app billing rules in the country.

Ahead, the KCC said that both tech giants continue to force their app developers for using their in-app payment methods instead of any other process. Eventually, this action results in unfair delays in the app review.

Responding to the matter, Apple uttered the following words:

“We disagree with the conclusions made by the KCC in their Examiner’s Report and believe the changes we have implemented to the App Store comply with the Telecommunications Business Act. As we have always done, we will continue to engage with the KCC to share our views.”

At some point, both Apple and Google have to make some changes to maintain their app valuation in the South Korean market. Let’s see how things will turn around in this subject in the upcoming days.
