Apple no longer lets users downgrade to iOS 16 following iOS 17 release

Apple began its ritual of restricting iPhone users to downgrade to the iOS 16 build, following the iOS 17 upgrade rollout. At the same time, the tech giant has stopped signing the iOS 16.6.1, iOS 17, as well as iOS 17.0.1 versions and continues to stream the latest beta firmware.

Consequently, the company performs such actions to promote the newest updates among users and encourage them to install the current features as well as improvements. Besides, this process helps in maintaining the compatibility of devices.

On the other hand, the manufacturer has dropped the latest iOS 17.1 beta 2 firmware in the public beta phase, allowing users to check more tweaks and enhancements.

Apple iPhone users can no longer downgrade to iOS 16 versions. To avoid the transfer of critical bugs from one upgrade to another, we suggest installing the latest iOS build on your handset.
