Apple iOS 17 brings advanced eye strain reducing feature

Posted on

Apple iOS 17 includes a number of interesting and useful tweaks but one of the most significant elements in this software upgrade is the advanced eye strain-reducing feature.

Both iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 comprise a new Screen Distance feature that alerts you when you bring an iPhone or iPad too close to your eyes for a long period. Often we forget to take care of the length between the device and our eyes. But Apple has made it easier for us.

Eventually, the tech maker says that the opt-in feature is designed to help lower the risk of nearsightedness in children by encouraging healthy viewing habits and can help reduce eye strain overall. Consequently, you can find this feature in the Apple iOS 17 that will help in reducing eye strain.

How to Access?

The new feature can be enabled in the Settings app under Screen Time > Screen Distance. Besides, it is available on all iPhone and iPad Pro models with Face ID. For your information, the feature uses the TrueDepth camera that powers Face ID to measure the distance between the screen and your eyes.

Meanwhile, it utilizes the facility of a full-screen alert that prompts users to move their device farther away after holding it closer than 12 inches to their eyes for an extended period.
