Do you know, your Apple iPhone has a QR code hidden under the screen?

Apple fans are surely well aware of how their iPhone works but do you know that there is a hidden QR Code under the screen panel? The latest report from TheInformation reveals that the tech giant has been forging a microscopic code on its handsets for a long time to manage production costs.

Starting in 2020, Apple began implementing the QR code on its iPhone (under the screen). Of course, several internal components contain such codes and users can see them easily when they open the device inside out.

However, a QR code under the screen has been a mystery so far. Thanks to TheInformation for depicting how this barcode is helpful for Apple. Consequently, the secret implementation on the iPhone helps the company to track and reduce defects in its production, saving hundreds or millions of dollars.

Next, it tells how many glass cover units the supplier has made or thrown away during the manufacturing process. Notably, these QR codes are so small that one can only see them with special equipment. Initially, it was difficult to impose such elements on devices, especially the iPhone 12. But things become perfect with time.

Here’s what the report says ahead:

“Lens and Biel have previously stymied Apple’s efforts to learn the true rate of defects, which can raise its production costs. Apple has paid millions of dollars to install laser and scanning equipment at Lens and Biel factories to both add the microscopic QR code and scan the cover glass at the end of the production process.”
