Apple launches first public betas for iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18.3, and macOS Sequoia 15.3
Apple has released the first public betas for iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18.3, and macOS Sequoia 15.3, allowing users to try out new features before the official launch expected early next year. These updates come shortly after the developer betas were made available. Public betas for tvOS 18.3 and watchOS 11.3 are also now accessible.
How to Download the Betas
To install the beta, public testers need to enroll in Apple’s beta program through the Apple Beta Software Program website. Once enrolled, the beta updates can be downloaded from the Settings app on supported devices.
Key Updates in the Betas
Here’s what’s new across the platforms:
- macOS Sequoia 15.3
- Genmoji Debut: Mac users can now create personalized emoji characters, known as Genmoji, which can replace standard emojis across apps. This feature is already popular on other Apple devices and now makes its way to the Mac.
- Home App Enhancements
- All three platforms—iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18.3, and macOS Sequoia 15.3—are adding support for robot vacuums. This update paves the way for Matter and HomeKit-compatible vacuums to integrate with Apple’s smart home ecosystem, enhancing automation options.
- Generic iOS 18 Features
- While no major features like Apple Intelligence were announced for iOS and iPadOS, smaller performance and usability improvements are part of the update.
Expected Release Date
The official launch of iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18.3, and macOS Sequoia 15.3 is anticipated by late January 2024. Until then, beta testers can explore and provide feedback on the updates.
