Key Points:
- Apple is expected to release new M4 Mac models in November 2024.
- Four Mac models will feature the latest M4 chips, with memory upgrades.
- A redesigned Magic Keyboard for iPad is under development, targeting a 2025 launch.
Apple is anticipated to unveil new Mac models powered by M4-series chips in November 2024, according to reliable sources cited by MacRumors. While Apple typically introduces new Mac models later in the year, this marks the first time a specific launch month has been pinpointed for these devices.
Despite this, there’s still a possibility that Apple could hold an event in October to announce the new M4 Macs. For context, last year, Apple hosted its “Scary Fast” event on October 30, where it introduced the MacBook Pro and iMac with M3 chips. These devices were subsequently released on November 7, a timeline that could be replicated this year.
Rumors indicate that Apple is preparing to launch four new Mac models featuring the M4-series chips before the year’s end. This lineup includes an entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro with the standard M4 chip, as well as enhanced 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with the M4 Pro and M4 Max chips. Additionally, a new iMac with the M4 chip and a completely redesigned Mac mini featuring both the M4 and M4 Pro chips are expected.
Except for the Mac mini, these updates are anticipated to be modest, focusing primarily on the upgraded chips. However, for the first time, these models might come with 16GB of memory as a standard feature across the board. Reports suggest that some of these machines are already in mass production, which aligns with the anticipated November launch.
In addition to the upcoming Macs, Apple is reportedly developing a new low-end Magic Keyboard for the iPad, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. This new keyboard is expected to be released next year and will be designed for the entry-level iPad or iPad Air, rather than the iPad Pro. Unlike the premium Magic Keyboard for the iPad Pro, which features an aluminum top case, this new accessory might include a function row but will lack the aluminum build. The redesigned Magic Keyboard is anticipated to launch by mid-2025.
Earlier this year, Apple introduced a redesigned Magic Keyboard for the iPad Pro, featuring an aluminum top case, a function row, and a larger trackpad. The company still offers the previous generation Magic Keyboard for the iPad Air, along with the Magic Keyboard Folio for the 10th-generation iPad.
