Apple might not launch mini version with iPhone 14 series
Small-screen smartphone enthusiasts have long hoped that Apple can launch a smaller iPhone with a modern full-screen design and Face ID features. This wish was realized on the iPhone 12 mini last year. There are rumors that there will be an iPhone 13 mini this year, but the 5.4-inch mini model may be about to end.
Today, Tianfeng International analyst Ming-Chi Guo reported that the iPhone product line in 2022 will consist of four models, including high-end 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch models, and low-end 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch models. Obviously, the 5.4-inch model is not mentioned here.
If there will be no so-called iPhone 14 mini in 2022, the iPhone SE series will regain the title of the smallest iPhone with a 4.7-inch display. However, due to the thicker frame and the main Touch ID Home button, the current iPhone SE 2 is actually slightly larger than the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 mini model. In addition, the iPhone SE 2 also has only a single rear camera and is equipped with an LCD screen, while the iPhone 12 mini uses a better OLED display.

In recent months, there have been many reports about the poor sales of the iPhone 12 mini compared to other iPhone 12 models, but since Apple no longer announces iPhone sales, there is no official data. If Apple retires the 5.4-inch mini model next year, it will undoubtedly indicate that the sales volume of the series is still not good enough to persist.
Guo Mingchi said that the under-screen Face ID system will be unveiled together with the new periscope telephoto lens in 2023 (it is expected to be the iPhone 15 series). Guo Mingchi has previously stated that starting from 2022, Apple will plan to abandon notch notches on some iPhones and adopt a “punch” design.
Guo Mingchi also said before that at least one high-end iPhone model in 2023 will use a fingerprint scanner under the display, without a notch, and use a true full-scale display.
