Posted on

Apple has recently released an important security patch for iPhone and iPad devices with iOS 16.5.1 and macOS 13.4.1, but suddenly pulls it back. A reason behind this treatment is a safari bug that is causing abnormal functioning of certain websites.

To begin with, the tech giant pushed iOS 16.5.1 and macOS 13.4.1 with Apple’s Rapid Security Response system. Eventually, it aimed to eliminate a hidden vulnerability for all users.

  • Available for: iOS 16.5.1 and iPadOS 16.5.1
  • Impact: Processing web content may lead to arbitrary code execution. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited.
  • Description: The issue was addressed with improved checks.
  • CVE-2023-37450: an anonymous researcher.

However, this rollout resulted in the crashing of certain apps such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Zoom, and more. Meanwhile, a few websites alerted that they aren’t working on the Safari browser after this update. Following this, Apple pulls back the iOS and the macOS security patch.

The manufacturer will surely release a new build in the coming days. By that time, you can downgrade to the previous software by going to Settings > General > About > iOS Version. Now tap on Remove Security update.
